Nursing Collage

My cousin Melissa is graduating this May 2020 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) from Quinnipiac Collage.  Melissa and I grew up together and she is a very important part of my life. She pursued a nursing career because when she was just two years old she contracted a very serious childhood illness that she overcame because of excellent medical care. Our family is really proud of Melissa.  I created this collage to memorialize her great accomplishment.  Congratulations Melissa, you did it!  You will be a fantastic nurse. I remember how well my family and I were treated when I was a young child and I wanted to give back and help other children and families. Melissa

The White House Appreciation Gift

In 2015 I graduated from High School.  I was grateful to my principal for all his help during my years at that school.  I decided to gift him with a Lego on Display model of the White House.  When I gave him the gift he was so surprised.  Having previously been a social studies teacher and a lawyer, the White House had significant meaning to him. He placed it in his office on display and said he would forever cherish this gift. My principal, Dr. Baum, gave me the confidence to continue building my collage art freelance career. To show my gratitude, I constructed and displayed a model of The White House for his office. He was moved to tears and told me he would treasure it forever. I could not believe it – I placed it in my office for everyone to see and couldn’t stop raving about it. I will definitely cherish this forever. Principal Dr. Baum Not only did I receive the support I needed as an artist, but this was the first in many future projects featuring my LEGO on Display. The White House in Display still remains in Dr. Baum’s office years later, beautifully preserved for all to enjoy. Party LEGO Centerpieces

In 2015 I decided to construct Lego centerpieces for my graduation party.  I chose the birds from the Lego Ideas Series. I added a wooden base and painted it gold with an array of spring flowers to enhance the construction. My family and friends loved them.  We played the traditional “Hot Potato Game” and whoever was holding the potato when the music stopped took the centerpiece home.  The constructions were a topic of conversation during the entire party. The birds were a good choice and resulted in family and friends requesting additional models. I just love my blue jay. I have it in a special place on my credenza where I can see it everyday. When I didn’t win one at the party I knew immediately that I would ask Joseph to make me one. Thanks Joe! Sister Irene, OP
